The Founders of the School

Ron Schmitz, MSW is a co-owner and instructor at ACES-Hungary. Ron earned his TESOL Certification at the University of California Hayward, graduate program.  Ron  brings years of multicultural experiences to the classroom whether it is a small group or one to one instruction. Ron is a member of TESOL, IATEFL, and IATEFL-Hungary.  He attends EFL (English as a Foreign Language) conferences internationally to continue developing his skills as well as teaching them to others.   Ron's many years working as a professional Social Worker shows in his ability to assess and design a learning plan based on the learning styles of his students.  His calm nature allows students to relax immediately and provides a comfortable, yet challenging learning environment.

Ryan James, LCSW, Ed.D. is a co-owner, instructor, and teacher-trainer at ACES-Hungary.  Dr. James has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California since 1992.  He earned his doctorate in International and Multicultural Education from the University of San Francisco, where he specialized in Second Language Acquisition, Learning and Instruction, and Qualitative Research.  Dr. James taught in California colleges for twelve years and previously in a private elementary school in Philadelphia for five years.  He is a member of TESOL, IATEFL, and IATEFL-Hungary.  He has presented at international conferences and has published articles in professional journals. He has been sent as a teacher trainer by the U.S. State Department to Macedonia and Bulgaria to conduct teacher training sessions as well as those he has provided in Budapest.  Dr. James is currently teaching in the American Studies department of ELTE University. He has taught one to one, small groups, classes for teachers of English who are non-native speakers, teacher trainings in Transformative Education, Critical Pedagogy, and Qualitative Research. He has lectured on many other topics. He is available internationally for speaking or training engagements.

Other staff members, all trained professionals, are contracted on an as-needed basis to fill specific functions as they arise.  This enables us to meet the varied needs of our students, host organizations, and clients.

We have traveled extensively within North America, having been to over 30 of the 50 United States, Canada, and Mexico.  In addition, we have also traveled to many other places in the world.
